Looks like the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has posted an interview with the completely objective non-partisan Gwen Ifill.
The two obvious things stand out:
First:
Q: Won't this somewhat restrictive format demand more artfulness from the moderator?
A: As it happens I'm very artful (laughing).
(Didn't Barak Obama say he was artful as well?)
Second
Q: What do you hope is said about this debate afterward?
A: Just that I was fair, I guess. Even that I can't hope for because people are so polarized.
(She gives herself cover for the inevitable and righteous indignation of those who can see a political hack ready to sell a book about a President Barak Obama. She is essentially saying, "anyone who questions me after this debate are either complete partisan hacks or maybe even racist?" Something else to think about is that she may be tipping her hat that she is in the tank (which if obvious anyway) to get Biden a victory in the debate by baiting Palin into uncomfortably and unfairly difficult questioning. Otherwise, why make the polarized comment?)
